About Charné

Charné Baird is a Fernie-based commercial photographer and mother of two who uses her photography to help others explore, learn, and enjoy the Elk Valley. Inspired by local kindergarten teacher Jane Fraser, she first created the Elk Valley Alphabet Card Set to spark curiosity and deepen connections to the valley.

Building on that project, she went on to publish Elk Valley Alphabet Adventures: A Rhyming Journey in the Heart of the Canadian Rockies, an A–Z book that combines her imagery with rhymes and prompts. Designed to be both playful and educational, it reflects her love for storytelling, family, and the landscapes she calls home.
